ドメーヌはもともと祖父母の所有で、ドニはベルギーで生まれた。学校の休みに祖父母の家に遊びに来て、ブドウ畑に興味を抱き、1981年、18歳の時からワイン造りを続けている。このドメーヌで特筆すべきは樹齢の高さだろう。村名ジュヴレ・シャンベルタンが平均樹齢80年、1級コルヴォーで90年以上、特級シャルム・シャンベルタンに至っては100年を超える。この高い樹齢が凝縮味に溢れ、緻密な構造をもつワインの源泉だ。ドニ・バシュレのワインをひと言で言い表せば洗練。どのアペラシオンもすきのないワインである。

「コート・ド・ニュイ・ヴィラージュ」は、ジュヴレ・シャンベルタンの北、ブロション村の畑クー・ド・アレンから。ヴィエイユ・ヴィーニュとはないものの樹齢60年になる古木。高い標高からミネラリティが感じられ、無駄のない筋肉。コート・ド・ニュイ・ヴィラージュというとプレモー以南のソフトなワインが多い中、これは別格のクオリティだ。

The 2020 Cote de Nuits-Villages wafts from the glass with aromas of cherries, cassis and dark berries, framed by a deft touch of spicy oak. Medium to full-bodied, lively and concentrated, it's deep and sapid, with tangy acids and a long, penetrating finish. As I've written before, if there's a sleeper in the portfolio of this sought-after domaine, this cuveefrom the lieu-dit Queue de Hareng in Brochonis it.

The 2020 Cote de Nuits-Villages has a mixture of raspberry preserve, bilberry and light undergrowth scents on the nose that is slightly more backward than the Bourgogne Rouge.
